HOW TO DRAG AND DROP DOCUMENTS INTO ONBASE

The following instructions are provided for dragging and dropping or “importing” documents that are saved either on your computer desktop or in a folder on a network drive.


Importing Documents from your Desktop or File Location (Dragging and Dropping):

1. Make sure that OnBase is open on your desktop. Minimize OnBase. 


2. Hold your left mouse key down on the document that you wish to import into OnBase. Drag the document over the minimized OnBase client. An “Import Document” window should now appear.


3. From the Document Type Group drop down list select the correct Document Type Group, e.g. if you are importing a CC – Disclosure Statement Filing Notice-late/Missing/Rejected letter the correct Document Type Group would be Candidate Communications.


4. From the Document Type drop down list select the correct document type, e.g, if you are importing Disclosure Statement Filing Notice-late/Missing/Rejected letter the correct Document Type would be CC – Disclosure Statement Filing 

Notice-Late/Missing/Rejected.


5. You will now need to index the document with the correct keywords. All red keywords are required and must be entered. Enter the Candidate ID in the Candidate ID field. If you hit the Tab key after entering a Candidate ID the candidate’s name should be autofilled. Continue to enter all required and known keywords. 


6. After all relevant keywords have been indexed, click the “Import” button. The document should now be imported into OnBase.


Importing Documents from a Network Location

1. Open OnBase.


2. From the OnBase File Menu, select “Import”. An Import Document Window should now appear.



3. Click the “Browse” button. An “Open Window” should now appear.


4. Select the network file location from the Open window and click the “Open” button. 


5. `By clicking on the “Open” Button, the Import Document Window should appear again. From the Document Type Group drop down list select the correct Document Type Group, e.g. if you are importing a CC – Disclosure Statement Filing Notice-late/Missing/Rejected letter the correct Document Type Group would be Candidate Communications. 


6. From the Document Type drop down list select the correct document type, e.g, if you are importing Disclosure Statement Filing Notice-late/Missing/Rejected letter the correct Document Type would be CC – Disclosure Statement Filing Notice-Late/Missing/Rejected. 


7. You will now need to index the document with the correct keywords. All red keywords are required and must be provided. Enter the Candidate ID in the Candidate ID field. If you hit the Tab key after entering a Candidate ID the candidate’s name should be autofilled. Continue to enter all required and known keywords. 


8. After all relevant keywords have been indexed, click the “Import” button. The document should now be imported into OnBase.
