DocPop is used to open up documents in Onbase without having to log into Onbase. Many of our notifications that are generated by Onbase will have a link so that users can see the documents associated with the notification.

In order for DocPop to work correctly, the default browser needs to be Internet Explorer. DocPop also works with Google Chrome, although there is reduced functionality in Chrome. Therefore, it is always recommended that the default browser stays at Internet Explorer. That is not always the case.

If there is an issue with DocPop, receive confirmation that the user is using Internet Explorer. Have them send a screenshot. Internet Explorer looks like this:

Whereas Google Chrome looks like this:

While this is not immediately obvious, just looking at the tabs themselves can help you determine which browser they are using. If they are using Chrome, it needs to be changed back to Internet Explorer.

To do this, Click the Windows Button and go to Control Panel. Then select Default Programs.

On the next screen, select Set your default programs.

On the following screen, select Internet Explorer and select Set this program as default. You may need to also select Choose Defaults for this Program and select every possible option. When you are done, on the window, it should say This Program has all its defaults.

This will usually solve the problem if the DocPop problems originated from an Onbase Notification. If they are having problems with CFIS, there is a chance that Chrome will still open despite the fact that we set Internet Explorer to have all defaults. If this the case, this can be done by uninstalling Chrome.

To uninstall Chrome, go to the Control Panel once more and select Programs and Features.

On the next screen, select Google Chrome and click Uninstall. This should make all defaults to be Internet Explorer.

GOOGLE TOOLBAR

The Google Toolbar can cause problems with DocPop. Therefore, if you see this in the list of Programs, you should immediately uninstall it. Most of our computers no longer have this, but some new computers might still have it. If you are troubleshooting and there are still issues with DocPop, this might be the reason.

To remove the Google Toolbar, go back into Control Panel and Programs and Features. Select the Google Toolbar and click Uninstall.
